South Central Veterans Service
Our service is here to support anyone who has served in the British Armed Forces (Regulars or Reservists).
We offer help and support to all former members of all ranks of the British Armed Forces who have received one day’s pay in one or more of the following:
• Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and Royal Air Force
• Volunteer Reserve Forces, including Royal Navy Reserves, Royal Marine Reserves, Army Reserves and Royal Air Force Reserves
Unfortunately we are unable to see you if you are currently serving in the Armed Forces, but we work closely with military departments of community mental health (DCMH) to help you if you are a serving personnel making the transition from military to civilian life.
The service is funded via NHS England as one of 10 specialist services nationally.
We provide assessments for all mental health needs, with the aim of helping you to access the service which is right for you.
Some specialist treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is available directly though our service, but you might also be referred to other NHS services and/or military charities.
• liaise with other services and agencies: We work with you to ensure that you can access and benefit from both NHS and community services. For example, we can support you in accessing local alcohol or drug services if you want to cut down on your substance use or stop altogether.
• provide signposting to other services and agencies: Having assessed your needs, we can provide information about services which can help you with issues related to housing, debt, employment and benefits.
